Compensation for an amputated thumb

Compensation for an amputated thumb

Redlich's Work Injury Lawyers recently settled a case for an injured worker who had his thumb cut off in a steaming machine. The worker, who speaks limited English and was not provided with adequate warnings, was directed to clean the underside of the machine. In the course of his cleaning duties, he removed a potato that had become lodged in the machine and had his thumb amputated.

Given the severity of the worker's injuries, the Defendant agreed that he had suffered a serious injury and paid out a substantial amount of compensation without the matter going to Court.
