Personal Injuries Legal Expert Michael Lombard spoke at the Law Institute last night, and said the help from the TAC for cyclists was like a 'Dog's Breakfast'. "Injured cyclists have enormous medical and other TAC help for some road accidents, and in others, none at all," Michael said. He told the lawyers attending that the State Labor Government would have to fix up a part of the TAC system that was clearly broken.
"If you are riding your bike and are hit by a car, run into an open door or run into the back of a car on your way to work, you are covered," he said. "Otherwise you 'can whistle dixie'. It is irrational, illogical and unfair." He indicated that the huge TAC profit could easily cover all injured cyclists and this would also take some of the heat off the budget problems for public hospitals.
Michael was speaking at the request of the Law Institute on Recent Developments in TAC claims.
