Seeking to curb the number of transport accidents on Victorian roads, Victoria Police began the first phase of a targeted operation designed to arrest drivers under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol in November 2017.
The operation commenced in Shepparton and was conducted over a three week period. Over this time, 89 motorists were arrested for drug driving, two were found driving under the influence of alcohol and a number of others were charged with various traffic offences.
In collaboration with the Transport Accident Commission, the campaign is being rolled out in regional Victoria with a view to reduce potential TAC Claims in the lead up to the dangerous holiday period.
