A Victorian worker recently succeeded in her application for compensation at the Victims of Crime Tribunal. Redlich's Work Injury Lawyers represented a worker who was sexually assaulted at work by a member of staff for a period of about 5 years and as a result sustained a psychological injury. A WorkCover claim was lodged and denied by the WorkCover insurer. Unfortunately in this claim, it was difficult to pursue further WorkCover entitlements, so we assisted our client with lodging a Victims of Crime Application. This application was contested by the alleged offender. The case ran for 2 days before a Tribunal Member who ultimately found that our client had been sexually assaulted. The Tribunal awarded our client loss of earnings and pain and suffering compensation. After years of trauma that this situation caused our client, this case has resolved in her favour and it is pleasing to see that justice prevailed. This can only be described as a great outcome in a truly terrible set of circumstances.
