A worker lost her arm in a work accident on a hop farm in North East Victoria last week. Hop harvesting, which takes place in March every year, is a time-pressured job because if the crop is left for too long it becomes unusable. There is particular pressure on workers this year, as the hot weather is causing the crop to ripen faster. This terrible accident is a timely reminder that health and safety precautions should never come second to needing to get a job done quickly. Our Senior Associate, Lauren Freeman, grew up in North East Victoria and travels regularly to Shepparton, Wangaratta and Albury/Wodonga to assist injured workers pursue their compensation entitlements. If you have suffered from a work-related injury and would like information about your rights to compensation, call Lauren on (03) 9321 9786.
