A Bill has been tabled in State Parliament which will fix the unfair laws that stopped people suffering from mental injury in road accidents receiving proper compensation. It will also give emergency workers the entitlements that were unjustly taken from them by the last Government.
In October 2013 the Napthine Government made changes that insisted on people having continuous mental treatment for 3 years without improvement, before being able to sue for proper compensation. The Government also restricted emergency workers from being able to sue if they witnessed the aftermath of a shocking event and suffered a breakdown.
Soon these bad laws will be gone. Road accident victims who suffer mental injury will not suffer prejudice any longer. Relatives of people who have died in road accidents will now be entitled to the help they deserve.
