Between December 1, 2019 and January 6, 2020, during the peak holiday travel period, 26 people were killed on Victorian roads, and 274 people were hospitalised with injuries from road crashes across the state, according to statistics released by the Transport Accident Commission (TAC). With more people at home this year, police will be keeping a particular look out for individuals in a rush to get to their next destination, or who have perhaps enjoyed too many celebratory drinks before getting behind the wheel of a car.
