Premier Denis Napthine has promised to move the Victorian WorkCover Authority head office to Geelong if the Coalition government is re-elected.
This will hurt the people who have been injured at work according to Specialist Personal Injuries Lawyer, Michael Lombard.
When the TAC moved to Geelong there was a major exodus of experienced staff and those injured on the roads were the ones to suffer , Mr Lombard said. The TAC has still not been able to recruit the required number of staff with the appropriate experience and they have been there for 4 years.
Only 40% of TAC staff moved to Geelong and it crippled the organisation , Mr Lombard said.
This grab for votes will have disastrous effects on the people who they are meant to be helping Mr Lombard said. It may have economic effects for Geelong but we still don't know the real cost of TAC's move , the whole cost was shrouded in mystery and this will no doubt be the same, Mr Lombard said.
