Why did you become a lawyer?

I worked on the Defendant side as a clerk at the TAC for 20 years and in later years I dreamed of working for Plaintiffs. I felt barristers who worked for both Plaintiffs and Defendants had the best understanding of how to achieve a great outcome and were more reasonable. As I expected you get more invested in the Plaintiff’s story working here, with better personal rewards when you achieve a good result.

How long have you been with Redlich's?

I have worked here for 13 years. It has flown by.

What has been your most rewarding case?

I have had a few cases were I took the initial instructions, I was the main contact for the client and I did the damages conference. One lovely client then wrote a very nice email thanking me (yes it is on the website).

What is your favourite memory about working with the Redlich's team?

Everyone chips in to help out and as we are relatively small, it is like a big family.

Who is your hero/role model?

Ingemar Stenmark (Swedish slalom skier) when I was a kid and Scott Pendlebury as an adult kid.

Favourite sports team?

Collingwood FC, Glasgow Rangers and Leeds United.

Do you have any pets?

We have no pets as we live in a small house in Fitzroy with no one home during the day. I did resist the temptation to get a dog while in lockdown.

Last book read?

Oliver twist. I was in a school play and had the small part of Mr Sowerberry the Undertaker. No one ever has heard of him and I wanted to see how many pages he is mentioned in the book. Alas not many.

Number one holiday destination?

Amsterdam or the highlands of Scotland (when it is sunny).

What is something most people don't know about you?

I am an open book, but most people are surprised to hear I am not an Australian citizen but I can vote in our elections.

Favourite cuisine?

Pasta or Italian in general.

What motivates you to work hard?

A good Scottish work ethic.

What advice would you give to an aspiring lawyer?

Find the type of law you are most interested in and make sure you pursue that.

How can someone get in touch with you?
