Why did you become a lawyer?

My family told me from a very young age that I was destined to become a lawyer, due to my need to negotiate on EVERYTHING. So, perhaps I was brainwashed into thinking the law was for me! The truth is, I was interested in studying law for as long as I can remember.

How long have you been with Redlich's?

9 years (interrupted by two rounds of maternity leave).

What has been your most rewarding case?

The nature of personal injury law and the way you come to know each client so well, often over a period of years, means that every case is memorable. That said, I will never forget my first Jury Trial which then became my first Court of Appeal matter. I acted for a lady who was injured in an assault whilst walking to her car after work on a university campus. I was a junior lawyer at the time, and sharing the emotional rollercoaster with the client – from the low of losing at Trial to the high of winning on Appeal was pretty special. I will always remember the client saying at the end “I can’t believe my name is a law now!”

What is your favourite memory about working with the Redlich's team?

Every member of the Redlich's team is truly passionate about the work we do and there is no competitive feeling – I love the culture of support and the sharing of information and ideas. The social functions are pretty great too.

Who is your hero/role model?

I would have to say my nan – she is simply a wonderful person, and I think she would have made a fabulous lawyer had she had the opportunity! She is a natural mediator, so community-minded and compassionate, yet strong and determined.

Favourite sports team?

I spent many a Saturday cheering on the Monash Blues football team back in the day (before my now husband became too old to play). On a more elite level – go Cats!

Girl Woman Other by Bernardine Evariste – I recommend!

Number one holiday destination?

Anywhere currently would be pretty great, but I do love Spain.

Favourite cuisine?

Vietnamese.

What motivates you to work hard?

I think most lawyers are instinctively hard workers, however seeing the positive impact of successful outcomes on my clients’ lives is hugely motivating.
