Why did you become a lawyer?
I wanted a job that served people and had meaning and purpose. Becoming a lawyer was a mechanism by which I could assist others in achieving justice in the here and now.
How long have you been with Redlich's?
I started at Redlich's in January 2014 after my eldest daughter turned 1. So just over 9 years.
What has been your most rewarding case?
Successfully assisting a dim sum chef settle three common law claims of three digit settlement figures for three discreet injuries occurring at various points in time with the same employer!
What is your favourite memory about working with the Redlich's team?
Hosting our ALA conference at Balgownie Estate for two days in the Yarra Valley right before COVID-19 hit in 2020.
Who is your hero/role model?
I think an artificial person in my head – one who is a highly skilled lawyer who is able to parent her children exceptionally well whilst being a loving and supportive wife to her husband and yet able to keep a clean and tidy house and have plenty of time left over for family and friends.
Favourite sports team?
My children. But I don’t think they’re a real sport despite being physically taxing in every way like a sport.
Do you have any pets?
We have a cat called Kaya. However, she spends most of her time at our neighbour’s house because she is less neglected there.
Last book read?
“Uncommon ground: Living faithfully in a world of difference” by Tim Keller.
Number one holiday destination?
Hands down, the Maldives. However, I suspect that may have been a once in a life time experience.
What is something most people don't know about you?
I pass out easily. Especially when I see blood.
Favourite cuisine?
Dessert.
What motivates you to work hard?
Outside of having hard-working parents as role models, I think I ultimately work hard because I am driven by a greater purpose.
I truly believe that I am vocationally called to do what I am doing right now and that what I am able to accomplish in my work is contributing to a larger purpose beyond myself. I also fundamentally believe that what we are seeking to pursue as lawyers is good – that is, justice.
What advice would you give to an aspiring lawyer?
To seek to balance it in moderation and with perspective.
